A veteran of 27 years of design, construction, repair and modification of canoes and kayaks James van Nostrand operates Magnetic North in the summer in Ontario. The rest of James’ year is spent in British Columbia developing new paddlesports products through The Northbeach Design Corporation

Magnetic North’s new store is at Nordlands – a farm where his family has lived since 1855. The showroom is located in a barn complete with 24 ft ceilings, hand-hewn timbers, crooked floors, and the occasional chipmunk. It is rustic but spacious.
